Trams in Strasbourg France

Public transportation in Strasbourg, France is excellent.  People can get around easily without a car.  Trams are a wonderful, easy, comfortable and a fast alternative to driving in this city of a half million people.  Roads are often very congested and parking in the downtown area can often be hard to find.

Paris France Cafe

People in France love to sit and watch pedestrians and cars go by.  They can sit for hours.  There is a beauty in sitting in a cafe and relaxing and watching the world whirl around you.  A "je ne sais quoi" about it. Many authors have depicted themselves sitting in cafes writing parts of their novels.  If you go to France and you enjoy one of these moments in time, be sure to look around you.  There is no telling who you might see!!

French Quarter Louisiana horse and carriage

You can tour the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana by horse and carriage. It is a wonderful way to see the whole quarter with a historical, cultural and folkloric depiction given by a licensed tour guide.  Lots of times the horses wear straw hats and sunglasses and the slow pace of the ride gives you a chance to ask questions and take lots of wonderful photos.  It's a great and fun experience!

Hiking in Big Bend National Park

Hiking in Big Bend National Park, Texas can be full of unexpected surprises. While hiking on a trail down to "The Window" we came across this little woodsy haven on the side of our trail.  The path follows the natural drainage from the Basin and it terminates in the pour-off at "The Window".  It is quite a rewarding hike.  Besides the green vegetation you see here there is also a nice variety of plants, birds, and other animals.  We even saw some deer!!

Alsace Castle

We hiked up a mountain in the Rittersberg forest in Alsace, France to get to this castle called Chateau Ramstein.  What a wonderful hike and you could hear the birds chirping so loud everywhere.  I enjoyed that so much and I even made a recording of it on my iPhone!  We then hiked further on to another castle yet called Chateau Ortenbourg where we had a picnic.  Both were in the Vosges mountains not too far from a town called Scherwiller.  This one here was built by Albrecht Von Hagsburg after he came to thrown in 1298.  It was his siege castle after he had burned down the one above.  This one also was finally burned and destroyed by the Swedes in 1633.
